By far, the microwave oven is one of the great inventions of the 20th century. It has made our life a lot easier. It is also called an electronic oven. They cook food employing high-frequency electronic waves called microwaves. These microwaves penetrate our food up to 2 inches.

They are small box-like structure that cooks our food relatively faster than any conventional cooking method. While cooking our food, it is subjected to a high-frequency electromagnetic field. We measure the capacity of the microwave in liters. The number of liters indicates how much food we can cook in one go. While buying a microwave, you should be well acquainted with the capacity you will need, depending on the size of your family and usage.

The capacity of the microwave varies with the type of microwave, you want to buy. For example: for a small family of 2 -4 members, 15- 20 liters microwave oven is enough but for the same size family, you need 21-30 liters of grill or convection type microwave oven.

    • Is it safe to dry food or herbs in my microwave?
    • Well, it’s not recommended to dry fruits, vegetables, and meats in the microwave oven. Sometimes, in the process of drying, we may burn the food items. However, the herbs containing the minimum amount of moisture can be dried with certain precautions.
